Frequently Asked Questions

*Do these repellents inflict pain/cause long term harm to sharks?

Based upon the tests our team has performed and the tests of other shark repellents using similar features and elements, Apex Protection does not harm the shark. The majority of our testing and research have been carried out by established marine biologists that specialize in sharks. Scientific tests display that the field emitted induces short term irritation in the form of minor muscular spasms. Once the shark swims away from that location there is no surviving destructive effect on the shark.

*Can I use A.P. in areas where the tide meets freshwater?

Our products are used for saltwater and will produce a limited field in these estuarine environments because the salinity levels are much smaller. Thus the protective field would diminish with the electrical field minimizing.

*Does A.P. attract sharks?

This is a myth and there is absolutely no scientific evidence to prove it. Sharks can detect electrical fields at incredibly short distances, however the ones emitted by Apex Protection dissipate into the water at a rapid pace, which means the shark would have to be in very close proximity before picking up on the e-field and acting on it. In the case that the deterrents e-field dropped to the extent that it imitated a prey stimulus (around 1-100nV/cm) and were to take interest and approach it, they'd soon realize it's in fact not food and then after flee the area because the field will strengthen greatly.

*can we guarantee our products turn sharks away?

Our shark deterrent(s) are one of the only proven and independently tested shark repellents in the world and the evidence of our experiments show that it does turn them away.
